Eyeshadows and more eyeshadows! I am guilty of continuously adding palettes and pots of eyeshadows to my collection. I justify each purchase by saying to myself things like, " Oh, you do not have that shade of brown." or "This one is matte and what I have at home is more metallic.". Whatever the excuse, I just feel that one can never have enough. When choosing what outfit I am going to wear for the day, I get just as excited selecting my makeup look and everything is centered around the eyes. Will it be a smokey eye or something more subtle. Will I go with a matte shadow look or with a frost or satin finish. The options are endless, so having plenty colors to choose from just adds to the fun.
I have been venturing out and exploring different brands that will give me a bang for my buck. I recently discovered BH Cosmetics (www.bhcosmetics.com) and I have to say that I have been impressed with their eyeshadows. Their palette options are great and they have several sizes from 9 colors to 60 plus colors giving you so many to play with. The best part is that they are super affordable! Prices range from $6.95 to $18.95 and up which is a steal compared to what you would pay with other beauty brands for that much product. The color payoff is very good and is true to what you see in the packaging. This was a nice surprise as I tend to find that the lesser expensive brands to not deliver when it comes to the pigment when applied, especially for woman of color. They have plenty of other makeup products from lipsticks to foundations. I purchased a set of makeup brushes which have worked out very well for me. I was able to get several brushes at a really great price point and as for right now I do not have any complaints with them. They are soft and made very well. Keeping with the more affordable brands, I also have some elf Cosmetics eyeshadow palettes in my collection. I do not find that the color payoff delivers as well when it comes to the more vibrant colors in their shadows, but there are some shades that do work out well.
If you do want to spend a little more and treat yourself, there are a couple of brands that I would like to mention while on the subject of eyeshadows. The Urban Decay NAKED collections are spectacular! You can find Urban Decay at SEPHORA, ULTA and other beauty retailers. The NAKED palettes come in six or twelve rich colors that go on beautifully. As I mentioned in my New Neutrals write up, MAC Cosmetics has several palettes and individual shadows that will not disappoint. It really just depends on what you are looking to spend and what type of investment you are wanting to make. Just know that there are great options available for you do matter how much or little you are wanting to shell out.
