May has been a month where I have been able to try some makeup products that have been on my can't wait to try list and go back to some oldies, but goodies. When the weather gets warmer, we start to wear lighter and brighter clothing in color and feel. This is also the case when it comes to our makeup. We want to wear bolder colors and when it comes to foundation, we don't want to wear anything that is heavy and feels caked on. Me personally, I always want to have good coverage, but I like to have a foundation that is thin and silky as far as consistency in the summer months. My favorites for this month consist of a great foundation, setting powder, lipstick and liquid highlight/bronzer.
NARS has always been a makeup brand that delivers great pigmented products with wonderful technology. One of my favorite blushes named Orgasm is a NARS blush. When I first started shopping at Sephora years ago, the beauty consultant matched me up with a NARS foundation in the color Trinidad and it was my go to for some time. This month I went back to Sephora and added the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation back to my line up. This product will allow you to achieve full-coverage with this very lightweight foundation that leaves a natural finish and is highly pigmented. Depending on the amount of drops that you use, you can control your coverage. This foundation will give you up to 16 hours of coverage and works with all skin types. A great product to add to your summer makeup routine.
I have noted in my blog my struggle with setting powders that do not photograph well. I am still enjoying my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish powder, but there has been a setting powder that I have read about and watched several YouTubers sing its high praises. I am speaking of the Sacha Buttercup Powder. I decided to try this powder instead of the Ben Nye Banana Powder after seeing beauty bloggers and vloggers with darker skin tones comment that it worked better on richer hughes. It has definitely passed my flash photography test and just gives the skin a very bright and polished look. This product does a fantastic job setting your under eye makeup and highlight. If you are not familiar with this power, look it up, I think that it is perfect for the summer and all year round.
Kat Von D has some really awesome lip products and I have finally tried one of her Studded Kiss Lipsticks
in LULLABYE which is a sparkling iridescent magenta violet. I do have a slight obsession with magenta colored lipsticks and I find that they pop against my skin and brighten my face. These lipsticks have a velvety feel and great staying power throughout the day. I only have to touch up once which is great in my book. There are 30 different shades to fit whatever look you're going for. Next, I plan to try her Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks as I have heard some wonderful feedback on their color payoff and lasting ability.
I love to highlight my cheekbones or use a product that gives my look a luminous finish. Revlon has a PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator that I have just fallen in love with. I have it in the shade in Bronze Light and it works very well with my skintone. I mix in with my moisturizer, I add to my foundation if I want to brighten my foundation so that it does not look flat. There are so many ways to use the product and it is perfect for the summer when you want to have that sun kissed look. This product is easily accessible and you can get it from most drugstores and wholesale retailers. They have a total of four colors and all of them can work with all skintones, it just depends on the look that you are trying to achieve.
Please let me know if there are any fashion trends or beauty products that you are loving this month. If you have used any of the items that I have noted here, I would love to hear what your experiences with them have been.
